Astrology, Sacred Space and Heartfulness for the Solstice and Full Moon

What is the Solstice?
The science behind a winter solstice
“The winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, when the sun appears at its most southerly position, directly overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn. It marks the longest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.”
“The solstice this year will be extra special because it will be followed the next day by a full moon known as the Cold Moon, and depending on your location, you might be able to see a meteor shower to boot.“
The Long Night Moon
Our Native American traditions call this moon The Long Night Moon because the Full Moon Coinsides with the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year.
Venus also Rises
As the Sun entered the Sign of Capricorn, the Sign of Scorpio was Rising and with it the Planet Venus(Osun). What’s on the horizon is what’s ushering the energy in, what’s providing the coloring or the vibe. As an Osun-Oya Priest Initiate, I pay close attention especially to Venus and Pluto (Oya). Wherever Osun (Venus) is there is benevolence and grace. Let us consider that this Solstice Is an especially blessed one.
Capricorn: The SeaGoat
The Sun came into the Sign of Capricorn which denotes the Solstice. Cap keywords include but are not limited to: Father, Authority, Maturity, Enterprising, Steady, Responsible, Loyal, Boundaries, Structure and the bonus, Eccentric. Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn and brings with him a more than fair share of Groundedness and Sensibility. Capricorn can definitely be resistant to change especially if said change seems unnecessarily uncomfortable or frivolous. However, for a worthy cause, a Capricorn will endure unimaginable discomfort. I once heard someone say, “ If you sit by the river long enough, you’ll see your enemies float by”; this is definitely a Cappy virtue: Patience. Saturn rules Time, so Caps are more often then not willing to wait for something to mature into its perfection. The Mystical SeaGoat is indeed Mundane and Mysterious. A collection of oxymoronic dynamacisms if you will. Capricorn is so misunderstood and labeled mostly only as "ambitious", but they sprout impossibilities of mystique and juicy wonder from the mundaneness of Earthly living. A fellow Astrologer once wrote that the Capricorn Secret Soul Mission is to Free the Wierd especially that’s within themselves. Cap Season is about getting your worldly affairs in order as marked by the setting of New Years resolutions. Saturn will hold us to account for those things we made a commitment to start or finish. This is a Great time to serve the elderly in our lives as well as get a check up regarding our own vitality, especially health concerns related to mineral intake, blood, bones and teeth.

A Case for Cushions
You may find yourself wanting to nestle with cushions in one particular cozy corner of your home. You may find yourself literally camped out there. It could be your bedroom or den, but you are feeling like eating all of your meals there, sleeping and getting dressed. You live in this particular room right now and it’s fine with you. It may not be particularly tidy, but that somewhat adds to the charm and appeal for you right now. Cancer enjoys warmth and comfort while Capricorn can sometimes enjoy austere minimalism. So a balance of warm tones and sleek timeless wooden pieces is ideal. Capricorn likes sturdy handsome antique collectibles while Cancer likes art centered around the Moon and Women especially the Womb and Breasts . Make sure your lighting is ambient and to have spicy-woodsy aromas like Cedarwood, Patchouli, Pine, Cinnamon and Tobacco in our the Air. In terms of color, you may want to harmonize earth tones (Cap) with cool tones (Cancer), like olive green with sea blue or terra cotta with mint green. Curl up with a good book, some Non- Dairy Vanilla Chai and In-joy🌙
Heartfulness and the Cancer Full Moon
Cancer is rules by the Moon herself. Keywords for Cancer are Mother, Feelings, Instincts, Nurturing, Protective and Domestic. During the Full Moon, The Moon is completely illuminated. The Moon is most at home in her own sign Cancer. Being in full view is probably not the Moons favorite position as she enjoys operating in safe, cloaked womblike darkness. But alas the Cancer Full Moon momentarily brings ALL of the hidden and inner to the fore. During this time, let the feelings flow. Let the moods shift and change. Listen to to the heart and gut. Trust me, with the balance of the Capricorn Sun you will not stray too far away from your sensibilities so just let the tears flow, get the hugs you need and go give a hug.
